In a monumental partnership with Rural Rising, Arthaland unveiled the groundbreaking Healthy Hauls program last year. This initiative is dedicated to not only uplifting communities but also making substantial strides towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the heart of Healthy Hauls lies the commitment to eradicate poverty, a central focus of SDG 1. By rescuing surplus fruits and vegetables from struggling Filipino farmers, this program serves as a lifeline for farmers to mitigate economic losses stemming from unsellable produce.
Furthermore, Healthy Hauls champions the cause of ensuring well-being through a nutritious diet, a core tenet of SDG 3. By delivering fresh and nutritious food to various underserved communities, including back-of-house staff, and charitable organizations, it directly contributes to improving people's health and overall happiness. This year, Healthy Hauls has impacted an astounding 1900 families—an impressive sevenfold increase from the previous year—and salvaged a remarkable 26 metric tons of fruits and vegetables (roughly equivalent to the weight of about 26 compact cars) from the fields of 1000 farmers across Luzon and Visayas.
Notably, Healthy Hauls also aligns with SDG 12, which emphasizes responsible consumption and production. By rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste, this program not only reduces environmental waste but also promotes resource efficiency. This eco-conscious approach underscores the importance of stewarding our planet's resources wisely, resonating with the global imperative of sustainable practices that do not harm the Earth.
Yet, Healthy Hauls transcends mere statistics; it serves as a shining example for businesses worldwide. It demonstrates how a company can help combat poverty, enhance the well-being of communities, and take active measures to protect our planet.
